What is tempered glass and why is it safer than regular glass?

Tempered glass is safety glass that has been heat-treated to be 4–5 times stronger than standard annealed glass. When it breaks, it shatters into small, blunt pebbles rather than sharp shards, dramatically reducing the risk of injury. All glass fabricated by Valkyrie Glass Systems is tempered to meet or exceed Florida Building Code safety standards.

Do you fabricate glass in-house or outsource production?

All glass is precision-cut and tempered in our Naples, FL facility at 4725 Radio Road. We do not outsource fabrication — every piece is measured, cut, edged, and tempered on-site, giving us full quality control from raw material to finished product.

What glass thicknesses do you offer?

Accepted Answer

We offer tempered glass in 1/4 inch (6mm), 3/8 inch (10mm), and 1/2 inch (12mm) thicknesses. The right thickness depends on the application — shower enclosures typically use 3/8" or 1/2", while shelving and tabletops may use 1/4" to 3/8". We'll recommend the correct thickness for your specific project during the quote process.

Can tempered glass be cut or drilled after it is made?

Accepted Answer

No. Once glass has been tempered, it cannot be cut, drilled, or modified — doing so causes it to shatter. All holes, notches, and cutouts must be made before the tempering process. This is why accurate measurements are critical before fabrication begins. We take precise measurements on every order to ensure a perfect fit.

What types of glass products does Valkyrie Glass Systems make?

We fabricate eight categories of custom tempered glass: frameless shower enclosures and doors, glass railings and balustrades, office partition walls, custom bathroom mirrors, glass shelving, glass tabletops and desk surfaces, wine display cases, and glass barn doors. Both residential and commercial projects are welcome.

Do you make frameless glass shower enclosures in Naples, FL?

Yes. Frameless shower enclosures are one of our most popular products. We fabricate custom-sized tempered glass panels and doors to fit any bathroom layout — alcove, corner, walk-in, or neo-angle. Hardware finishes include brushed nickel, matte black, chrome, and oil-rubbed bronze. Installation is handled by our licensed sister company, Designer Glass of Naples.

Can you make glass railings for a pool deck or balcony in Southwest Florida?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We fabricate tempered glass railing panels for pool decks, balconies, staircases, and commercial applications throughout Southwest Florida. Our glass meets Florida wind-load and building code requirements. Frameless standoff systems and post-supported systems are both available. Because we fabricate in-house in Naples, lead times are shorter than ordering from out-of-state suppliers.

Do you supply glass for commercial office partition walls?

Yes. We supply tempered glass panels for full-height and partial-height office partitions, conference room walls, and storefront dividers. Both clear and frosted glass options are available. We work directly with contractors, interior designers, and business owners throughout Collier and Lee counties.

Can you make a custom glass tabletop or desk surface?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We cut tempered glass tabletops and desk surfaces to any shape — rectangular, round, oval, or custom. Edge finishes include flat polish, beveled, and pencil edge. Standard clear, low-iron (ultra-clear), and frosted glass are all available. Minimum thickness for tabletops is typically 1/4" for smaller surfaces and 3/8" for dining tables.

Do you build glass wine rooms or wine display cases?

Yes. We fabricate custom tempered glass enclosures for residential wine cellars and commercial wine display cases. Glass walls and doors allow full visibility of your collection while maintaining a climate-controlled environment. We work with your contractor or designer to ensure the glass panels integrate with your cabinetry and framing.

What areas of Southwest Florida do you serve?

We serve all of Collier and Lee counties, including Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and surrounding communities. Because we fabricate in-house at our Naples facility, we can typically offer faster turnaround than competitors who ship glass from out of state.

Do you handle installation or just fabrication?

Valkyrie Glass Systems is the fabrication specialist — we precision-cut and temper all glass in our Naples facility. Installation is handled by Designer Glass of Naples, our licensed and insured general contractor sister company. This means you get a single point of contact for both fabrication and installation on most projects.

How long does it take to get custom glass fabricated?

Lead times vary by project complexity and current volume, but most residential orders are completed within 5–10 business days after measurements are confirmed. Commercial projects with larger quantities may take 2–3 weeks. Rush orders can sometimes be accommodated — contact us to discuss your timeline.

Question 15

Is your glass compliant with Florida Building Code?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All tempered glass we produce meets or exceeds Florida Building Code requirements, including wind-load ratings for railings and impact-resistance standards for applicable applications. We can provide documentation for permit purposes upon request.
